Double glazing, window and door repairs in the North East.

We assess double glazing faults, uPVC window repairs and problem doors across Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead and the wider North East, including Jarrow and Hebburn. Whether you have misted glass, a window that will not close or a faulty door lock, we identify the affected component before discussing a repair or replacement and a written quotation.

Misted double glazing and replacement sealed units

Misted or blown double glazing describes moisture trapped between the sealed panes, rather than condensation on a surface you can wipe. We assess replacement double-glazed sealed units and window glass while checking whether the existing frame is suitable to keep. Replacement glazing is different from fitting a complete new window; the survey establishes which work addresses the fault.

uPVC window repairs: locks, hinges, handles and draughts

A uPVC window that catches, drops, will not lock or leaves a draught may have a hardware, alignment or seal problem. Window hinge repairs, handle replacement and locking-mechanism work depend on the actual fault and suitable parts. We inspect the opening, frame and operation separately; replacing the glass alone will not resolve every closing or locking problem.

Door lock repairs and doors that will not close

We assess front, back, French and patio doors that stick, draught or will not lock properly, including faults affecting handles, hinges, locks and glazing. Tell us whether the problem occurs when the door is open, closed or both. Do not force the handle or dismantle the mechanism; any security concern and available next step should be discussed when enquiring.

Repair or replacement advice

Not every fault needs a complete new unit. A survey lets us compare a focused repair with replacement and explain which route is practical for the condition of the existing frame.

Before you decide.

Can misted double glazing be repaired without replacing the frame?

A failed sealed glass unit can sometimes be replaced while retaining a suitable frame. An assessment needs to check the glass, frame condition and operation separately. A sticking handle or draught may involve another component, so replacement glass alone may not address every fault.

What affects the cost of a window or door repair?

The faulty component, glass size and specification, availability of suitable parts, access and surrounding condition all affect the work. Describe the symptoms and provide your postcode when enquiring. A quotation should identify the proposed repair and any limitations rather than assume a standard price covers every fault.

Is condensation on the room-side surface the same as a failed glass unit?

No. Condensation on a surface you can reach is different from moisture trapped between sealed panes. Describe where the moisture appears and when it occurs. If you cannot tell, ask for an assessment rather than removing glazing or assuming a complete window replacement is needed.

What information helps when reporting a window or door fault?

Include your postcode, which opening is affected, what happens when you try to use it and any visible damage or misting. Mention upper-floor or other access restrictions. Do not force an opening, dismantle glazing or rely on a door that will not lock; explain any security concern when requesting help so availability and a suitable next step can be discussed.
